How To Measure Bullet Bearing Surface Length

Follow these steps to measure bullet bearing surface length with the Hoover Meplat Trimmer.

  1. Slide calipers into the slot on the Meplat Trimmer body. Close the calipers to square it and tighten the black plastic thumb nut.
  2. Install a bullet in the Meplat body and close the calipers. Zero the calipers to get your base number.
  3. Sort bullets in .001” increments (example -.002/-.001/.000/+.001/+.002) by installing them into the Meplat body and closing the calipers.
